A new addition to my yard art collection

Can’t wait to see your scarecrow. I inspired Houston restaurant critic and cookbook author Robb Walsh to get interested in home gardening last fall and he has turned into your typical wild-eyed first-year gardening zealot. During the change from winter to spring-summer crops he had a bit of space above the baby melon plants, so his artist-decorator wife went thru his old clothes and constructed her husband’s alter ego (complete with his trademark sunglasses) floating over the plants. Not to be outdone, I was talking this weekend with some of our fun little infestation of UH art majors over at the Last Organic Outpost about our next phase of garden art. 2010 – the year of the Great Houston Scarecrow War!
