Summer gardens and lots of cooking at Indigo House
Be happy for me. I am delighted to say that this season’s garden is so much better than last year’s.
I’m already eating little new potatoes and some sugar peas. Soon it will be green beans and cucumbers. Even a bit of Basil ready to pinch some for a fresh sauce.

The okra and Anaheim peppers still have a way to go. I did have to resow chard in a tall tub to protect the young seedlings from the rabbits. When the chard was sown directly in the ground, the damned bunnies nibbled them as quickly as they emerged.
My other focus is fulfilling my book contract for Knopf. That means writing, more writing, editing, and revising. I’ve written a Master’s thesis and a PhD Dissertation, but neither of them was as hard as this project!! Think good thoughts for me as I sit at my computer.
In between writing and gardening, it’s history dinners and classes here at Indigo House. They are listed here on the website for the rest of the summer and into the fall! You can make reservations at Dinners or Classes. Here are the dates – please share to help fill my table – Thanks a lot!

And please take some relaxing time to watch the wonderful documentary “Finding Edna Lewis”, a PBS production. Deb Freeman and her crew won a well-deserved Emmy for their work. The special part, for me, is that the last section takes place at my table. What a wonderful evening!
I wish you a wonderful summer.
