Description

Nothing tastes as yummy as bread still warm from the oven, slathered with sweet butter. Well, maybe a close runner-up will be the pita with fresh hummus. We will bake a sandwich loaf and puffy fresh pita bread.

In between rising and rolling dough, we will make a batch of ricotta. Think of herbed dip, or ricotta with fruit and honey. And it’s ideal for a rich lasagna.

You can make butter by simply shaking the cream in a jar, but in this class, for fun, we will use both a 150-year-old crockery dasher churn and a modern stand mixer to make ours. A batch of butter allows for plain, sweet butter, salted exactly to your taste. Or use it to make seasoned butters with garlic or herbs, all ready to be served from your freezer.
